Organizations & workspaces

How Databookly separates your firm, your clients and their books.

Organization

Your organization is your bookkeeping firm or your business. It holds your team, your billing and all of your workspaces. You create it when you sign up.

Workspace

A workspace is one company's books, connected to exactly one QuickBooks Online company.

  • Bookkeeping firms: one workspace per client.
  • A business doing its own books: usually just one workspace.

Everything inside a workspace stays there: its QuickBooks connection, imported bank lines, evidence files, settings and audit log. People only see the workspaces they're members of. An organization Owner or Admin sees all of them.

Switching workspaces

Click the workspace name at the top of the sidebar to see the workspaces you can open. Under each name you'll see the QuickBooks company it's connected to, or QuickBooks not connected.

+ New organization at the bottom of that list sets up a separate organization with its own first workspace.

Coming soon

Adding workspaces to an existing organization, and inviting teammates and clients, are coming to Databookly's settings. Until then, contact us from databookly.com and we'll set them up for you.
